At first, I hoped the local grocery-stores would save me.
But that glimmer of hope died quickly...
Store-bought GF breads are bland and lifeless. They either crumble to pieces or feel like you're eating a sponge...
Then there's the GF pasta dishes β completely devoid of any flavor or bite... Worse than sucking on soggy sea-weed. Eughhhhhh!!
And the GF cookies? Heartbreaking! It's like eating a mix of sugar baked with mud! Eughhhhhh!!!
But store-bought gluten-free food only gets worse when you read the list of ingredients.
In order to make up for what is lost in the process of removing gluten...lots of other ingredients are added. Along added sugar, salt and fats β you'll find many hyper-processed ingredients that are known to be bad for you.
Like xanthan gum, guar gum or soy lecithin
Which kind of ruins the whole idea that gluten free should be good for you.
And on top of all of that, gluten free flours, baked good and dishes are just so expensive now days. As if the term "gluten free" allows these companies 20% to 180% more β for almost the same product.
So I had no choice...
To give it up... or to just starts making everything at home.
